John Sellen’s career in the elevator industry started with Dover Elevator in Detroit in 1981, starting as a project manager and moving into sales and management positions. In 2000, he took his 19 years of experience into the realm of consulting. Since then, he has provided vertical transportation consulting to building owners, managers, architects, and developers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and the West Coast. In August, 2013 Mr. Sellen started his own firm, JE Sellen Consulting.
A 1979 graduate of the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Architectural Studies, Mr. Sellen currently serves as President of the San Francisco Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute.
From 1997-2000 Mr. Sellen was Project Manager for Thyssen Elevator at the San Francisco International Airport Expansion Project where the company was installing and modernizing over 90 elevators under nine different construction contracts.
As an elevator consultant, Mr. Sellen has worked with all types of vertical transportation projects, for building owners, managers, architects, and developers.
